SAMSON receives 2026 innovation award for GreaseControl
SAMSON AGRO has received a 2026 Sommets d’Or innovation award for GreaseControl, its smart greasing monitoring and control system for SAMSON TG slurry tankers. The award is presented as part of the Sommet de l’Élevage, held in Clermont-Ferrand, France in October.
GreaseControl was recognised for its innovative approach to preventive maintenance. By integrating the automatic greasing system into the slurry tanker’s electronic architecture, the solution enables operators to monitor and adjust the system directly from the cab, helping to improve machine reliability, simplify maintenance and provide greater peace of mind during spreading operations.
Smarter preventive maintenance
On a slurry tanker, several mechanical components are subjected to particularly high loads during spreading operations. This includes the running gear, suspension, pump arm and unloading pump. Their reliable operation depends on regular greasing adapted to the conditions of use. Insufficient lubrication can have significant consequences, including premature wear, machine downtime or the interruption of spreading operations during peak season.
With GreaseControl, SAMSON takes automatic greasing one step further by transforming it from a standalone auxiliary system into a connected solution fully integrated into the slurry tanker’s electronic architecture. The objective is clear: to ensure reliable lubrication of essential components while giving the operator immediate visibility of the actual status of the greasing system.
Full control from the cab
GreaseControl integrates the lubrication system directly into the machine’s electronic architecture. The EP1 pump is fully controlled via the SM 5000 Mk2 terminal, with no timer or settings to adjust directly on the pump. From the cab, the operator can adjust the greasing cycles, configure the number of pulses per cycle and monitor the grease level in the reservoir.
The system uses sensors to monitor the grease level and ensure that the lubrication system is operating correctly. If the grease level is too low, a line is blocked or broken, or a pressure fault occurs, an alert is displayed directly on the terminal. This enables the operator to react quickly before insufficient lubrication results in a mechanical failure. As an option, monitoring of the application implement’s greasing system can also be connected to the terminal.
Less to monitor, greater peace of mind
For farmers, farm machinery cooperatives and agricultural contractors, GreaseControl provides tangible benefits in the day-to-day operation of the slurry tanker.
The operator no longer needs to manually check whether the greasing system is working correctly or adjust settings directly on the pump. All essential information is centralised in the cab, providing a clear overview of the system status and greasing cycles.
This approach makes it possible to move from reactive maintenance to a more preventive approach. By reducing the risk of missed greasing operations, making faults easier to identify and improving maintenance traceability, GreaseControl helps maximise slurry tanker availability and secure even the most demanding spreading operations.
“With GreaseControl, our aim was to reduce some of the mental load associated with preventive maintenance. The operator no longer has to wonder whether the system is working correctly: all the information needed to monitor, adjust and react quickly in the event of a fault is available directly in the cab. It provides real peace of mind for the operator while also improving the reliability of the slurry tanker,” explains Christophe Marzin, Product Manager at SAMSON AGRO.
